Are you paying to work?

A friend of mine recently got made redundant and asked me to help her look for a job that worked around her 2 children.

Let me tell you that my mind has been blown; as a parent, finding a job that pays well and doesn’t mean you see more of your phone than you do of your children is incredibly hard.

How have we as a country, as a culture, got to this?

Jobs are listed with wages ranging from £10-£11 per hour for working 8am – 6pm… that’s a lot of hours for not a lot of return. Then adding in the most expensive childcare costs in the world meant she was PAYING to go to work. She would be better off staying at home and waiting for her children to be home. Relying on grandparents just isn’t feasible for so many people, where can we find this balance?

As women we want to work, we want to raise our children and we want to make a good income…. Yes, we want, want, want but that’s ok. If you don’t know what you want, you’ll never strive to achieve it. What we don’t want is pennies at the end of the month because our labour has fed someone else’s pocket.

It really is time to put our working life into our own hands, it’s not always easy but it is achievable and the money you earn is yours.

My friend had no interest in health and wellbeing and what BabyBeats and Mindful Movers had to offer, but what she did want to do was set up her own business. She’s a rare Monica of the world and loves to clean, she has exceptionally high standards, so an idea emerged. Why not work the days and hours you choose and do what you are good at? Do something you enjoy and work when the children are at school.

Why are more of us not doing this? Is it the fear of failure? Or do we need that fear to push us forward?

A year later she opened her own cleaning company and she’s stacked out. She has well and truly done it and become successful!

All she had was some gentle encouragement and support, but she’s now taking on staff and enjoying residual income as well as profits she made for herself!

When we support each other amazing things can happen.

The benefit of a Franchise (whatever area interests you) is that you have the support and guidance you need, you have a business built and ready to go. You have someone at the end of the phone.

You can do this.
